Who’s afraid of growing old? We’re not. With age comes wisdom and beauty and style too. Three female role models.
Organic from your own kitchen
We recently met up with Jo-Anne Chidley, founder of the 100 percent natural cosmetics brand Beauty Kitchen. Her goal? To set up a real beauty company that would be truly natural, effective and affordable. That would not make compromises. The saying “I may not be perfect, but at least I am not fake” perfectly applies to Jo-Anne’s concept for Beauty Kitchen. All her products have cute packaging and smell gorgeous – not too herby as can often be the case with natural cosmetics. We’re crazy about the Miracle Mother Nature Facial Konjac Sponge (€ 8,99). This environmentally friendly sponge is made from the (edible) roots of the konjac plant and is perfect for cleaning your face. It’s soft on the skin but at the same time gently scrubs away dead skin cells. We used it with a cleanser but it works just with water. For example, you can use it under the shower for a gentle yet thorough wash.
All Beauty Kitchen products are exclusively available from Holland & Barrett
Nice to know: 10% of Beauty Kitchen’s profits are donated to the Ziwa Rhino Fund. This foundation is reintroducing rhinoceroses to Uganda. Since 1997, the rhino population has grown from four to nineteen animals.
Matrix introduced a natural hair care range this year: Biolage R.A.W. The brand is sustainable – do good, feel good –, 71 percent natural and 99 percent biodegradable. Recover Shampoo and Conditioner helps you to restore sensitive hair so it has more strength, shine and elasticity. Its ingredients include yucca plant extract, coriander oil, kaolin and goji berries. Free from artificial dyes, sulphates, silicones and parabens.
