A new Mugler perfume to fall in love with and keep forever and the free spirit and femininity of Coco Chanel bottled: the Tellier Sisters tell us about the new stars in the perfume firmament.
I heart you
Who can remember the scent of Angel by Mugler back in the early nineties? Thierry Mugler’s first perfume – packaged in a beautiful star-shaped bottle – was a huge success. We were fans of that Oriental, woody scent. This year, Mugler released a new perfume: Aura Mugler. This sweet, woody scent is composed of “three hearts”: the beating heart, the backbone of the perfume, contains tiger lily, a plant that is used in Chinese medicine against heart disease. The vegetal heart contains rhubarb leaf and orange blossom. And the animal heart has bourbon vanilla and woody notes. Why all those hearts? Mugler describes the heart as the universal symbol for all of life.
The perfume bottle is of cut glass inset with a metal “M”. This is not the M from Mugler, but M as in “Aime” – French for love. As you would expect from Mugler, the fragrance lasts a long time on your skin. J’AIME!
Aura Mugler eau de parfum refillable spray, 30 ml, € 71
(also available in 50 and 90 ml versions). Also comes in the form of a body lotion and a body milk.
The name of Chanel’s new exotic floral-fresh perfume tells a story. It’s the story of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, who had to fight for the freedom to be the woman she wanted to be, a rebellious, driven, radiant and free woman. A woman as alluring as the perfume she inspired. Perfumer Olivier Polge imagined the perfect white flower, the only flower in his opinion that embodies the freedom and femininity of Gabrielle Chanel. The perfume is based on four flowers: orange blossom, ylang-ylang, jasmine and tuberose and is complemented with top notes of mandarin, grapefruit and blackcurrant, with base notes of sandalwood and musk.
The bottle is beautiful and was designed in collaboration with glass master Sylvie Legastelois. Packaging specially designed for the silhouette of the bottle protects the glass. We find this fragrance a wonderful addition to the Chanel range: a perfume that radiates Parisian chic. We love it.
