Looking your best – Summum’s Beauty tips for beautiful skin

The Tellier Sisters know everything there is to know about concealing powders, creamy creams and glitter nail polish. The duo presents the best tips, smartest make-up tricks and most fabulous products on their Summum blog and in the magazine. Meet Brigitte and Ginette.

What is natural beauty? A striking face, regular features, anyone with a cosmetics-free complexion or someone who radiates inner beauty? The jury is out on that one, but one thing is sure: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What one person finds beautiful, another will find utterly unattractive – in the same way that the rose-tinted glasses of love can make the plainest face beautiful. But we can all agree on one thing: an even toned, well hydrated and vibrant skin without marks, spots or imperfections is prettier than a dull, grey complexion. Not everyone is blessed with radiant, glowing skin. There are all sorts of factors that influence how your skin looks, such as diet, stress, hormones and lifestyle habits. Plus, your skin changes as you age. Wrinkles, pigmentation spots and reduced elasticity are the most familiar signs of skin ageing. We cannot escape it, but there is a lot we can do to look as fresh as possible.

A healthy lifestyle is very important for good skin. Avoiding stress, eating healthily, sufficient exercise, plenty of water, protection from sun damage and sleeping well all have a positive impact on your skin and slow down the ageing process. In terms of a beauty regime, it’s simple: first cleanse your skin thoroughly and then take good care of it. With the help of the right skincare products, you can be the best version of yourself.

Cleanest in the land

So, effective facial care starts with clean skin. Make-up, sweat, dust and dirt particles, free radicals, sebum and dead skin cells must be removed. The cleaner the skin, the more readily the serum or moisturiser is absorbed. If you have enough time, you could follow the challenging ten-step Korean ritual – although despite its fame, it isn’t actually the holy grail of cleaning. If you have other ways you’d rather spend the evening than on endless cleansing, massaging, scrubbing and moisturising, then you might as well omit a few steps. What do you need to do for optimal facial care?

Peachy skin plan

1. Cleansing: twice a day to prevent clogged pores and reduce the risk of spots.

2. Toner or lotion and eye make-up remover: restores the pH balance of your skin and removes any remaining facial cleanser and/or make-up.

3. Exfoliate (three times a week): removes dead skin cells.

4. Hydrate: moisturise, moisturise and moisturise again to maintain hydrated skin. Use a moisturiser, serum, ampoule, booster, mask, eye cream (with SPF), and day and night cream.

Skincare product tips

Let it bubble!

  1. Bioré Cleansing Poeder Scrub met Zuiveringssoda, € 10,99

Bioré is the American pore expert. This scrub has a powder-to-foam formula with natural baking soda that effectively combats the blackheads, dirt and grease that clog the pores from deep inside. Use the scrub two to three times a week together with your daily cleanser. The concentrated powder is activated by water and dissolves rapidly so that you don’t over-scrub.

Concentrated active ingredients for tired, dull skin. Your skin is intensively hydrated and light-reflecting pigments give your face a youthful glow and even skin tone.
